<div itemprop="description">RUTHERFORD, Francis (Frank) A. - At Parkwood Institute Veterans&rsquo; Wing, and in tandem with the 70th Anniversary of Victory Europe (VE Day), Francis (Frank) Aubrey Rutherford passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on May 9, 2015. <br /><br /><br /><br />Born in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan to Adam and Violet (Lawley) Rutherford on May 14, 1924. Beloved husband of Margery (Spencer) for 64 years, and devoted father to his sons John (1972) and James &lsquo;Jamie&rsquo; (2011).<br /><br /><br /><br />Loving grandpa to grandson Kevin (Jenny Claire) and great-granddaughter, Helen.<br /><br /><br /><br />Survived by sisters Mae (Herman) Oswald and Alice MacDonald. Frank was predeceased by his brothers Milford (1923), Wilfred (1975) and Russel (2010), and Rutherford in-laws Bob MacDonald and Joyce Tanner.<br /><br /><br /><br />Frank always enjoyed his Spencer family in-laws, and will be missed by Edward, Philip (Maureen Spencer Golovchenko), Kathleen Rutherford, Elaine Lyne, Linda (Robert) Burton, sister-in-law Hannelore Spencer and daughter-in-law Romy Spencer-Rutherford. <br /><br /><br /><br />Predeceased by Margery&rsquo;s brothers Robert (1979) and David (2009), brother-in-law John Lyne (2008) and sister-in-law Carol Spencer (2014). <br /><br /><br /><br />Frank&rsquo;s gentle spirit, good humour and happy smile will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends with fond memories. <br /><br /><br /><br />Frank served in the Canadian Forces (RCEME) in WW2, Korea, and various postings across Canada, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. After retiring from the Forces, he continued to serve at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa, as a civilian specializing in technical standards. <br /><br /><br /><br />In retirement, Frank kept in touch with the RCEME Association, was a proud member of Kiwanis, enjoyed curling and bridge, and kept fit with a daily walking routine for many years.<br /><br /><br /><br />at Parkwood Institute (2 Perth Veterans&rsquo; Alzheimer&rsquo;s Unit) Many thanks to Dr. Michael Borrie and the wonderful staff for their caring support of Frank during his final journey. <br /><br /><br /><br />Cremation has taken place through Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at The Church of St. Jude (Anglican), 1537 Adelaide St. N. (at Fanshawe Park Rd.) on Saturday, June 6 (D-Day) at 11:30 am. Visitation will be held at the Church one hour prior to the service.<br /><br /><br /><br />Donations may be made to Parkwood Institute Veterans&rsquo; Wing, The Church of St. Jude, Kiwanis Club of Middlesex or a charity of your choice. <br /><br /></div>
