Ibson Hannelore "Hanna"

Peacefully at home after a long and valiant battle with cancer on Saturday, August 10th, 2013. Wife of her adoring husband Lyn Ibson; beloved mother of James Whitelaw and Craig Whitelaw and step-mother of Jamie Ibson and Darcy Ibson; doting grandma to Elijah Whitelaw. Predeceased by her father, Hans Voelsgen; survived by her mother Anneliese Voelsgen (Manfred Schmitt), brothers Joe Voelsgen (Grace) and Bernie Voelsgen. Remembered with love by uncle Wolfgang "Al" Voelsgen (Inge) in London; Aunt Liesel Ruge in Kitchener, uncle Eugen Voelsgen, in Cologne Germany; by her dear cousins Mhairi Voelsgen in Washington and Elke Reyfeld in Germany; and her nephews and nieces in London and Sarnia. Always in the loving thoughts of her mother-in-law, Viola Ibson (Russell) in Grand Bend and her sister-in-law, Susan Pruliere (Steve) in Sarnia. Cherished forever in the hearts of Edward and Cindy Noulty and family. Celebrated with admiration and laughter by her many colleagues and customers, most recently with Fantasia home parties and Birdies Nest.
Hanna was born March 27, 1958 in Cologne Germany and came to London with her family at the age of 5. She attended Lady Beck public school and Clarke Road secondary school and later completed her studies at Fanshawe College. Renowned for her exhuberent style, boundless energy and generous nature, Hanna made friends instantly anywhere she went. After waiting tables and tending bar at some of London's better known dining and night spots, Hanna entered into a successful career in graphic arts production where she revealed an unerring eye for detail and efficiency. She then found her true calling in the home parties business, where she won national honours as top producer, team leader and trainer. Following her creed - "first you make a friend, then you make a sale" - her greatest achievement was in the deep affection she won from a large and delighted following throughout the London region and across Canada.
Hanna was fiercely loyal to her family and close friends, and was known to battle fearlessly, if needed on their behalf. Her many loves ranged from butterflies to heavy metal to Stephen King novels and tropical beaches, but none exceeded the infinite love she reserved for her grandson Elijah.
A "goodbye party" for the beautiful, sparkling, dazzling Hanna will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 3 pm with visitation from 2 to 3 pm prior to the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas Street (at Wavell) London Ontario, 519-455-9343. In lieu of flowers, please donate generously to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer Society or Mission Services London.
