<div itemprop="description">POTMA, Juurd Ype (Jerry), born on August 26th, 1941 in Heerenveen, The Netherlands. Jerry peacefully went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 11th, 2016 in London, Ontario at the age of 74. Beloved husband of 52 years to Joanne (nee Meinen). Loving father to Arnold (Shelley), Mark (Gretchen), Jason (Jennifer), Derek (Sarena). Loving Opa to his 14 grandchildren: Justin, Luke, Joel, Troy, Noemi, James, Nicholas, Jesse, Alexander, Benjamin, Joshua, Gabriel, Elise, and Teal. Dear brother to Bill (Tina), Ricki, Dick (Triny), Cor (Krina), Sy (Joann). Dear brother-in-law to Al, Anny, Anne, Wilma, Dirk, Ada, Hylke, Janet, Ralph, John, Grace, Harry, and Melinda. Predeceased by his parents, Syberen and Hendrine, sister Anke, brother Peter, brothers-in-law Gerrit and Henk and sisters-in-law Joan and Maggie. Jerry was a high school teacher with the Essex County school board for 26 years, and taught for four years at Ukarumpa High School in Papua New Guinea. He loved the outdoors and was an avid runner. Jerry was a gifted painter, and used his artistic talents to share the gospel through many chalk art presentations. Visitation will be on Monday, May 16th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 1559 Fanshawe Park Road East, in London, and the memorial service will be held at North Park Community Church, 1510 Fanshawe Park Road East in London on Tuesday, May 17th at 11:00 am, with opportunity to visit with the family from 10:00 to 10:45. The family is grateful to the staff of Henley Place for excellent care of Jerry.
