Manfred Schmitt
Manfred Schmitt passed away peacefully at Parkwood hospital on Sunday, September 8, 2013, in his 77th year, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by his family Brian and Susan Schmitt, Norman Schmitt and Meaghan Daly, cherished companion and best friend of Anneliese Voelsgen, grandchildren; Matthew, Scott, Josh and Megan. Manfred was born in Mayen, Germany and came to Canada with his parents in 1956. He was a founding member of the Blau Weiss Rot Carnival Society and active member of the German club and worked at Bell Canada until his retirement in 1991.
Friends will be received at Memorial Funeral Home 1559 Fanshawe Park Rd East for visitation on Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martin’s Church, 46 Cathcart Street, London, Ontario, on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Interment St Peter’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
