Unexpectedly at Westmount Gardens on April 16, 2014 in her 79th. Predeceased by her beloved husband Gerry (2007). Loving and devoted Mom of Paul and his wife Michelle. Shamelessly proud Gramma of David and Michael. “Bug” was the much loved sister of Evelyn, Robert, Theresa, Ronald, Daniel, and Linus. A very special and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was very proud of her accomplishments as an Executive Secretary at INCO for 35+ years, as well as a strong member of Beta Sigma Phi. She and Gerry lived the majority of their life in their home in Copper Cliff. After retirement, they traveled extensively in Canada and the US. They moved to London in 2006 to be closer to Paul and his family. Marilyn and Gerry certainly lived a life with more than its fair share of challenges. The legacy they left behind for all of us is around facing adversity. They lived their life with the belief that there is little value in dwelling on what you can’t change. Instead, face forward, focus on the positives, and work hard every day as partners to make your life and those around you the very best that it can be. While we’re so very sad to see her go, we know she’s now “dancing like a fool!” with Gerry. And making those around her laugh with her “Marilyn’isms”! Special thanks to all the staff at Westmount Gardens Long Term Care and Longworth Retirement Village for their genuine care and compassion for both Marilyn and Gerry over the last 7 years. The family will receive friends at St. George's Parish, 1164 Commissioners Road West, London from 10 am to 11 am Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Funeral Mass to be held at 11 am. A reception to be held immediately afterwards at the Church. Cremation to occur. Interment of Marilyn's cremated remains to take place in Sudbury. Committal and graveside service information to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Children's Health Foundation.
